Hello, I'm Holden! Today, we will introduce a cocktail using 'mint', a beverage that we often see in coffee shops. It's 'Mint Julep'. How much mint drink do you usually drink? I don't enjoy it, but when I drink it occasionally, it leaves a strong aftertaste. 'You must drink it again next time!' And I always made a promise. Shall we start 'Mint Julep' to cool off the summer heat?
Summer mood
1. Story
It is said to have been made in the southern United States. Juleb means 'rose tree' in Persian. Originally, a drink made by mixing alcohol with water flavored with rose flowers was called julep. Now, it can be said that the Julep style using mint has become a representative example!

As the cocktail title suggests, 'mint leaf' is an essential ingredient. It may seem difficult to find, but if you search for it, you can find it very cheaply! You can feel the freshness just by looking at the glass of crushed mint leaves. In addition, if you add ice and stir well, white frost will form around the glass, enhancing the taste. Also, if you sprinkle powdered sugar on the mint leaves decorated in the glass, you will feel even more refreshed as if covered with snow.
If 'Old Fashioned', a representative cocktail using bourbon whiskey and sugar, is a heavy shot, 'Mint Julep' adds mint to give it a lively and airy feel. It is recommended to go with friends around you on a summer day!
6. Tips
■ Originally, I drank wine as a base. Other than whiskey, it is okay to base it on various spirits.
■ If you want to make it more plentiful, you can decorate it with cut fruits such as cherries, pineapples, oranges, and lemons on a cocktail pin.
■ When the Kentucky Derby, the largest horse racing festival in the US, is held, it is said that tens of thousands of glasses of mint julep are drunk at the racecourse.
